PHYLLIIDAE (LEAF)
Phylliidae is a family of stick insects (Phasmids) belonging to the suborder Areolatae. They are commonly known as leaf insects.
Antonio Pigafetta was probably the first to document the existence of these insects in his account of the first voyage around the world. He studied and documented the fauna of Cimbonbón Island, including the presence of certain insects that he mistook for leaves.
