CASTNIA
Castniidae is a small family of Lepidoptera in the suborder Glossata, with fewer than 200 species. Most are Neotropical, with some found in Australia and a few in Southeast Asia.
They are medium to very large butterflies, usually with cryptic (camouflage) markings on the forewings and bright colors on the hindwings. The antennae have a thickened tip. Neotropical species are commonly known as giant moths. The larvae feed inside roots, often those of epiphytes.
