NOCTUIDAE
Noctuids (Noctuidae) are a family of robust, nocturnal moths, with more than 11,772 known species according to recent taxonomies.
Many have abundant grayish down, although some have bright colors on their wings, such as those in the subfamilies Acronictinae and Agaristinae, especially those from tropical regions (e.g., Baorisa hieroglyphica). There are generally few differences between the sexes. The vast majority of noctuids fly at night and are invariably attracted to light sources. Many are attracted to sugar and nectar-rich flowers and thus are pollinators, especially of nocturnal flowers.
