BUPRESTIDAE
Jewel beetles (Buprestidae), commonly known as metal-boring beetles, are a family of polyphagous beetles comprising approximately 13,000 species. They are phytophagous in both their adult and larval stages and, in some cases, can be agricultural pests. Many species are brilliantly colored, making them prized by collectors, hence their English name.
The subfamily Schizopodinae is now considered a separate family (Schizopodidae).
